Kia Beaty | nutrition coach
Kia’s love for health and fitness began early as a young basketball player, which later evolved to bootcamps and lifting weights in the gym. She’s also a Type 1 diabetic, so fueling her activities and tending nutrition has been a lifelong requirement once she was diagnosed at 6 years old. Kia’s purpose and focused clarified when she became a mom and she started coaching Crossfit. She’s seen first-hand the importance of exercise and how nutrition is the missing link for so many people.
Now as a co-owner of Skylab Fitness and mother of a 11-year-old daughter, Kia is continuing her efforts to help people get healthier and stronger. Working with clients and watching them transform is one of the most rewarding parts of her role as a nutrition coach, and she seeks to help clients find freedom from food rules with balance and a healthy relationship with food.
Kia’s nutrition certifications are from the American Council on Exercise and the Nutritional Coaching Institute. She has her Bachelors of Science from the University of Michigan-Flint and was a teacher for 11 years before she began focusing on health and nutrition.
Tamra Little | nutrition coach
Tamra grew up the ‘chubby’ kid, and in a world of yo-yo dieting, she never really learned about healthy eating. In college, the ‘freshman 15’ was more like the ‘freshman 50’. After graduating college, she continued putting on weight by living on processed foods and drinks. At her heaviest of 353 pounds and in her late 20s, she decided something had to change. She was tired of feeling the way that she did. She was exhausted all the time. Through better nutrition, she lost 75 pounds. At 30, she joined a gym, fell in love with weight training and bodybuilding and lost another 75 pounds. That was 15 years ago. She made health and fitness a priority and a lifestyle, and she has maintained the weight loss!
Tamra’s passion is helping others in their health and wellness transformations. She’s a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) certified nutrition coach and National Personal Training Institute (NPTI) certified personal trainer. She also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Ferris State University, and a continues to also work in information technology.
In addition to her own heath journey, she enjoys keeping her dog fit in Agility and is mom to two cats.
sound like a fit?
this we believe…
- Sustainable health. Nutrition for us isn’t just about achieving a certain physique or a number on the scale. We want to help our clients truly improve their overall health by improving their relationship with food and learning to love and appreciate whole food that nourishes their body and supports a healthier planet.
- N=1. Everyone has individual challenges, passions, motivators and sensitivities, so there’s no one size fits all approach. We help clients learn to listen to their bodies, so they can make better and smarter choices for themselves.
- Paying it forward. At the end of the day, we want to improve our community’s awareness of how to create a healthier lifestyle. Our charitable contributions focus on children’s health and nutrition programs and are a combination of in-kind and direct contributions.
